Reporting to the Vice President of Innovation, the Director of Design and Research will play an integral part of a newly formed internal innovation team at Centura Health. The focus of this innovation team is to create new ways to enable consumers and impact the Centura consumer experience. This team will bring designers, data scientists, product managers and engineers together to experiment with advanced data and analytics, build rapid prototypes based on those experiments, and partner with core business functions to get elegant experiences into the hands of our consumers and communities to transform how they engage and interface with health and health care.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Set the creative direction and standard for design work within the team

  • Lead and structure design work effectively across a collaborative, cross-discipline setting, across all parts of the design and development process

  • Create a human-centered environment for discovery to emerge

  • Cultivate appreciation for design and research that’s grounded in empathy

  • Thoughtfully and creatively impact prototype, product development and validation

  • Seek ways to level up the team’s delivery of creative work and research; push the practice of human-centered design/innovation

  • Present design and convey meaningful stories to leaders and peers alike

  • Mentor junior staff, and provide coaching and oversight to their work

  • Contribute meaningfully to the creative culture and community of the team and the organization

  • Hire and manage small team of designers and researchers

What You Bring/Job Requirements

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • 7-10 yrs. experience, with at least 5-7 years in an in-house design/innovation team or design firm grounded in human-centered design

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field,required

  • Applicants must provide a link to portfolio of work samples showing design and research

  • MS/MFA or design MBA, preferred

  • Candidate must communicate clearly and effectively

  • Fluent in digital design, prototyping, storyboarding and the tools for creating them

  • Strong facilitator and collaborator

  • Experience working hands-on with developers and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment

  • Possess a strong design point-of-view and ability to draw others into it

  • Knowledge of design and prototyping tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Invision, Sketch

  • Based in Greater Denver Area,occasional travel may be required.
